RACHEL ARIEL ANDERSEN
Hi, my name is Rachel and I am a bit of a "Jill of all Trades".
I have lived in many contexts and dabbled in many different fields, becoming an "expert of people" more than anything else.
I have been a Tour Guide, Program Manager, Yoga Instructor, Musician, Event Organizer and Group Facilitor--facilitating for all of my adult life! My mom has a story that I started guiding when I was six, on our canoe trip through the Grand Canyon. As an adult, I have guided countless trips for many different companies with guests from all over the world.
I grew up in Intentional Spiritual Community and believe that all of us have the capacity and ardent desire to more meaningfully connect with one another.
I went to highschool and University in both Northern & Southern California, adventured for some years in Hawaii, and then now live in Umbria, Italy as of the past 13 years.
WE ALL NEED COMMUNITY
We cannot fight our own nature: we were born into tribe, into family, into some kind of community. Seeking to "fit in" is built into our very DNA. In ancient times, if the community rejected us we would be "left to the wolves". Without a network of humans to sustain us, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
It's not easy to live the life of a hermit, with no contact. Indeed, babies who don't receive touch can even die! So let us embrace our communal nature, and nourish ourselves with real tribe: folks who seek interconnection, friends who are committed to growing together, who are willing to see and be seen in all our imperfections and light.

FALL IN LOVE WITH YOURSELF
How often are we running around looking for fulfilment outside of ourselves? What if we are like the Musk Deer that plummets to its own death in search of that elusive sweet scent that is simply found within its own breast?
We are all in search of the unique bliss that already resides within us--all we need to do is uncover it, to let our light shine! We must become our own greatest lover, beloved & friend. No one else can do it for you.
Eighteen years ago I started a program called, "Living with Spirit". It was born after my own experience being a participant in a young adult (ages 18-30) summer program where we did plenty of adventure in nature, sports, yoga, meditation and service projects. It was life-transforming. "Finding my tribe" there fulfilled some deep holes in my troubled, teenage soul and became a polestar for the rest of my life.
When this program ceased to exist in my community, I started organizing it myself, creating a safe container for young adults to authetnically express themselves and be supported in their spiritual searches. I then brought this program from California to Italy.
After working for various Tour Operators, from the small to big fish on the market, I realized I wanted to birth my own project, where I could bring these two worlds together: to create quality trips that contained more meaning and that connected the participants at a deeper level.

Spirit Kin, in essence, is an attempt to create a modern tribe. In our current society, with its increasing epidemic of loneliness, it's more important than ever to find a family and to feel that we belong.
How many of us have felt that feeling when you're in a room full of people but you feel excruciatingly alone? We live in cities, smashed against eachother, yet we often don't even know our neighbors, let alone say hi to them.
Spirit Kin seeks to break this barrier. To give us the tools to connect more deeply to ourselves & to each other. To re-connect to nature and to what truly matters to us. We need this medicine more than ever. The time is now. The place is here.
